This is interesting, but here's a thing, I hope you placed a note saying that your making this using ActionScript2.0 and not ActionScript3.0. It would help greatly with the confusion.
Especially for beginners, I've been trying your tutorial and was wondering why it wasn't working since I've done and followed everything right, turns out I was using AS3.0 and not AS2.0
